Until very recently I was employed at HP labs working on
agent research. As part of this effort we needed to be
able to use agents in a J2EE hosted application.
Consequently we submitted a number of extensions to JADE
which are now part of the standard 2.6 release.
Initially we were using HP-AS as the J2EE server but
when HP decided to jettison that product we moved to
using JBoss.

HP recently stopped our agent research but allowed us to
contribute this and other parts of our work to the open
source community.

I've created a project on SourceForge to host BlueJADE -
a service which runs under JBoss and manages the JADE
agent platform. For details on BlueJADE see:

_cowan.pdf

Before placing the code in SourceForge I'm looking for 1
or 2 volunteers to help with the JADE demo applications
which demonstrate BlueJADE. There are two almost
functional (under JBoss) now: a simple sender/receiver
pair and a basic Agentcities implementation. These
individuals must 1) understand both JADE and J2EE
servers, 2) be willing to spend some time first
understanding the implementation and then contributing
code. I expect there to be a large number of persons
which think this technology sounds interesting - but I
ask that you only respond if you want to be an active
contributor and not just someone who wants to try it.
The latter group should wait for what I expect to be
about 1 month until the effort is ready publicly on
SourceForge.

If you are interested in helping - please let me know
along with a brief background of your use and knowledge
of JADE and ideally JBoss.

Regards,

Dick
